WELCOME TO PUMULA
The only local-run and owned surf camp in the area. We are a young local family, situated in the peaceful seaside village of Pumula (meaning,“ideal resting place” in isizulu), Just a 1 hour drive south from Durban city on the south coast of KZN, South Africa. The South Coast is known for its beautiful climate, stunning beaches, warm water, good waves & chilled Surf Vibe.
Our homely Surf House, originally an old, traditional fisherman’s cottage, sleeps 8 to 10 people, is set on a large plot overlooking lush forests and is a short 300m walk from the surf and miles of beautiful beaches. No roads to cross, just a short walk down the road, along the river. Come join our family and way of life, learn about the ocean, learn to surf or improve your surfing skills in the warm Indian ocean. Breathe and stretch out with yoga sessions to enrich your mind, body and soul, and gain knowledge of maintaining and preparing healthy meals.
We share the place with a pack of friendly dogs & a few cats. In the area we have indigenous wildlife, such as vervet monkeys, porcupines, bush buck, tons of birds, dolphins, whales and much more. We are surrounded by stunning natural bush, and just a short stroll away from the beach.
We cater for the eco-conscious travelers and families, our vision is to try live an eco-lifestyle as nature intended, by learning to enjoy and live in harmony with the land and sea
What we offer
Surfing
We offer surf lessons from beginner to advanced, board rentals and guided surf trips to give you the best surfing experience on the South Coast. Justin our head coach is a South African Pro Surfer and we have become well known for our progressive Surfing Sessions. All our instructors are trained to the highest level.
Yoga Classes
Start your mornings off with a revitalising yoga class or rest those muscles and stretch it out on the yoga deck after a day of surfing. Do yoga in our Magical Mangrove Forest, on the beach or on our Forest Yoga Deck Our Yoga Classes are specifically designed for surfers.
Healthy Meals
After all the surfing we make sure to nourish our bodies with a healthy meal. On the weekends we do Pizza Nights and of course we braai often. We also offer breakfast on the beach (weather permitting) and sometimes Dinner on the beach in front of a beach bonfire.

TIME TO UNWIND
Enjoy Saturday night pizza nights, when you can order a fresh, homemade pizza that will be cooked to perfection in our outside, wood fired pizza oven.
Sometimes there may even be some cool, mellow live music vibes.
Pumula Surf Camp is very much a locals hangout and you will enjoy a few cold ones with the locals after a full day of surfing.
